Systems guidance: View your education data (VYED)
What is VYED?
View Your Education Data (VYED) is a secure online portal used across multiple Department for Education (DfE) services, most commonly for attendance data. It also supports services like Check Your Performance Measures Data (CYPMD) and Apprenticeship Services.
Access is granted through DfE Sign-in, where different VYED roles are available depending on the service.
Common enquiries
1. How do I access VYED?
Access to VYED depends on your DfE Sign-in account and the roles assigned to you.
Check your DfE Sign-in account:
There are different VYED roles for different services and you’ll need the correct access to see information.
If you have approver status, you can add services to your own account:
- Go to ‘Services’ in DfE Sign-in
- Select ‘Add services to my account’
- Choose the service you need and click Continue
- Select the relevant roles or forms
- Click Continue
- The service will now appear on your dashboard
You can then access VYED.
If you are not an approver, you’ll need to request access to the service:
- Go to ‘Services’ in DfE Sign-in
- Select ‘Request access to a service’
- Choose the service and click Continue
- Select any sub-services (if applicable)
- Review and submit your request
- Your organisation’s approver will approve or reject the request
Once approved, visit VYED.
2. I can’t access GLD
GLD (Good Level of Development) data is part of VYED. Check if you have one of the following roles in DfE Sign-in:
- Monitor your child development data – LA
- Monitor your child development data – Trust
- Monitor your child development data – School
If you have the correct role, but still can’t access GLD, please get in touch with your UKPRN and your organisation’s name.
If you don’t have one of the roles listed above, you’ll need to request the appropriate role via DfE Sign-in:
- Go to ‘Services’ in DfE Sign-in
- Select ‘Request access to a service’
- Choose the service and click Continue
- Select any sub-services (if applicable)
- Review and submit your request
- Your organisation’s approver will approve or reject the request
Once approved, you can access VYED.
3. I’m having trouble accessing CYPMD
Check Your Performance Measures Data (CYPMD) is accessed via DfE Sign-in.
You must have DfE account linked to the organisation you want to access CYPMD for.
You do not need a specific service assigned for CYPMD.
If their account isn’t linked, use the relevant template from the DfE Sign-in section (e.g. “You Don’t Have an Account” or “Your Account Needs Linking”).
If your account is correctly set up and linked to your organisation, you should be able to access CYPMD.
