Education Record – What You Need to Know
This page provides help and support for education records.
We’ll regularly update this page with the most up-to-date information.
Mobile phone policies in schools
The government’s position is that pupils should not use mobile phones in schools. We’ve made an exception to this to allow schools to give pupils access to their education record. This is a one-off activity and pupils will only need access to their phone for a short period of time under the supervision of a staff member.
Guidance and resources for schools
We’ve published detailed guidance on how to issue education records. This includes:
- a step-by-step guide to the issuing process
- specific guidance for each staff role
The guidance pages contain answers to many frequently asked questions, including:
- how to access education records
- how to add missing pupils
- what to do if a pupil has problems with the app
We’ve also included resources you can use to tell pupils, parents and guardians about education records.
Guidance and resources for sixth forms, colleges and providers
Read our guidance for more information about how to get education records from learners.
We’ve also provided template letters that you can use to tell learners how to share their record and what to do with their record after sharing.
