Hi All,

We have a potential new apprentice going through onboarding at the moment.  She is French and has lived in the UK for 1 year but has been resident in the UK/EEA for over 3 years.  Please advise whether or not she will be eligible for apprenticeship funding.

TIA

Jean

Unless they are here via the EU settlement scheme, I would suggest not, per the below:

P371 A non-UK national (with exception to those that fall into the categories above) is eligible for funding if they have been ordinarily resident in the UK and Islands for at least the previous 3 years on the first day of their apprenticeship and have  permission from the UK government to live in the UK (not for educational purposes) or have obtained pre-settled or settled status under EUSS.

Unless... They're here as the Family Member of an EU National? Which might actually be a possibility in this case?

P372 A ‘family member’ is the husband, wife, civil partner, child, grandchild, dependent
parent or grandparent of an EU national (principal). A family member is eligible for
funding if:
P372.1 where required to do so, they have obtained pre-settled or settled status
under EUSS, and
P372.2 the EU national (principal) has obtained pre-settled or settled status
under EUSS and has been ordinarily resident in the UK, EEA and/or
Switzerland for at least the previous 3 years on the first day of their
apprenticeship

Thank you.  I'm contacting her today to see if she has settled or pre-settled status
