Functional skills learning evidence

Created

Hi,

We have noticed that we have a learner that we enrolled onto Maths and English FS for the first 6m of their apprenticeship but we do not have any learning evidence during the 6 month funding claim period however, we do have evidence of learning on later dates.  Does anyone know whether this will be acceptable in audit?

Yes this would be an audit issue as the audit requirements for the learning start date includes: Funding can be claimed only from the date on which learning activity directly related to the apprenticeship, or learning aim (for English/maths), begins and can be evidenced.

Thank you for your reply Martin.  I should have clarified, there is start date learning but then the learner has not evidenced any other functional skills learning until they were later into their apprenticeship and the 6 month claim period had passed.

It still may be an issue due to the new rule for this year:

P35.2 - Clarification: To clarify that active learning means off-the-job training and / or English and maths. To support the monthly payment, some active learning must take place every 4 weeks (or a break in learning must be used to stop the funding).

This could require for FS M/E as they are funded separately that you are required to use a BIL on these aims where they are not in active learning as above.

Donna Hunt Martin West sorry to jump on your post here - but in relation to evidencing the first day of learning towards FS, would just an 'attendance mark' suffice as 'evidence'? Or would the attendance register need to be accompanied by a SoW/lesson plan of some sort?

Words of wisdom appreciated.
