Privately Funded Apprenticeship -

Created

Hi All,

We have an employer who wants to put on an apprentice however they don't meet the residency rules of 3 years etc. Can they privately fund and if so how do we do this paperwork wise so that we are 100% compliant?

We've done it before with devolved nations learners however it was some time ago and want to make sure i'm doing the right things.

Thanks All.

The joy of a privately funded app is there is effectively nothing to comply with! ESFA only care if you're having some of their money. Just set up as usual in the ILR but use Funding Model 99.

Hi,

Just following on from the above - if the employer is paying for the apprenticeship is this private funding or other?  If the apprenticeship is privately funded, does the apprentice receive an apprenticeship certificate?

Thanks

Steve Hewitt

If you are not drawing down Levy/ESFA funding *at all* that's what we mean by Private Funding.

Annoyingly, in order for the learner to receive the apprenticeship certificate, they need to be in the ILR but set to Funding Model 99.

Hi Steve Hewitt/Martin West

Can I also check, does the apprenticeship need to do FS/OTJ at all in this situation?

Martin West

Yes and follow all the funding rules excepting for financial elements.

Steve Hewitt

Yes, because they need to meet the legal definition of an apprenticeship to be signed off by the EPAO, it's just ESFA won't audit it like the ones they're paying for.

Many thanks for info above, however we are getting an ILR error when we add EPAO, but don't have corresponding TNP1 & 2... Do we need to take EPAO out (and if we do will they still be able to  issue Cert upon achievement?) Also they will not be on TAS..is this an issue? Grateful for help..
