When you hire a new apprentice do you have to start the apprenticeship itself within a week or two of their official start date, or can they be employed for a few months before actually starting the apprenticeship?.

Funding Rules say they should start the learning within two or three weeks of the "Apprenticeship Start Date".

Of course, it doesn't really matter unless you're paying them App Minimum Wage, because you can't pay them that for three months if they're not learning. If you have a new starter on a real wage then you can start them on the App whenever you want.
