Part-time Hours - OTJ & Programme Duration

Edited

None

We have a learner about to start with a new cohort who works part-time hours which average 17.5 hrs per week (worked as a 4 week rota Wk 1 - 35hrs, Wk 2 - 0 hrs, Wk 3 - 35 hrs, Wk 4 - 0 hrs etc)

The programme is for 69 weeks (practical learning), for a learner working 30 hrs plus, OTJ would be 369 hrs

OTJ for the part-time learner is the same ? as she can't be less than a full time learner ?  is that correct ?

We're also extending the programme to be 89 weeks using the calculator in the funding rules.

Problem we have, the employer has confirmed should a workshop fall on a zero hr week she will be able to attend and get paid, thus she will finish the programme with the full time learners at 69 weeks.  Can she finish early ?  is it a minimum of 89 weeks ?  will she have to "hang around" for 20 weeks ?

Any guidance grateful !

Thanks

The requirements for an early completion are that the learner has completed before the planned end date recorded by the provider on the ILR and met the 12 month minimum duration based on 30 hours but as this in your case due to part time working has been extended the calculated minimum duration of 89 weeks applies as required in Par 36.1 (You must extend the minimum duration).

Par 35.3 requires that he end-point assessment can only be taken after the minimum duration has been met. You must confirm this as part of the gateway checks.

P35.4 The minimum duration of each apprenticeship is based on the apprentice working at least 30 hours a week, including any off-the-job training they undertake.

As P35.4 includes any off-the-job training they undertake for the minimum duration you could consider the paid OTJ hours for the alternative weeks in the calculation for the new minimum duration as this would reduce this to 74 weeks based on 7 hrs delivery in alternative weeks.

I note you have amended the hours for wks 1 to 4 you would have to take this into consideration when calculating the new minimum duration.
