Apprentice with 3 months out of season due to business closure

Hi all,

  Just wanted to get a feel on this. Apprentice is being hired by a holiday park in the hospitality industry, they are closed for 3 months of the year. 

  • If they are in active learning with the provider during those 3 closure months then I'm assuming this is not an issue.
  • Do we treat this a bit like Zero hours and divide the contracted hours across the reduced year.(9/12 =0.75 thus 40 hours would become 30 hours as an average contract. Assuming they were contracted to 40 during the opening months.
  • Any other pitfalls people can think of or reasons why this isn't eligible?
