Advanced Loans and Subcontracting

Edited

None

Can I ask two questions please ?

1.Under the rules, can we subcontract any of our Adv Loan provision

2.Our current facility is 90k only spent £25k this year,so If we can subcontract, will the new starts (June 2023) still be funded in 2023/24 as our facility is reduced to  £25k for next year ?I know there are potential growth points in Sept and Jan,however I don't want to start students that won't be funded to finish their qualifications.

Thanks

No.

ALL is the strictest of the funding streams when it comes to subbing, you just can't (and, also, shouldn't try to get round it with "partnerships" or other fiddles).

Thanks Steve

Is there any chance that you could point me in the direction of the guidance for this and I can pass this on to the other party ?

Thanks

Point 6 Provider Eligibility. Been there since mid 10's? Introduced maybe three years into Loans existing?

Hi Chris,

As Steve has advised, definitely stay away from giving the relationship another title- some organisations try this approach to fudge the rules.

It may also be beneficial to share the definition of a subcontractor with the third party in question. You should find this within the GLA rules if this is not mentioned in the ALL rules. This basically states unless they are a tutor that you directly manage like your own staff, it’s subbing- don’t explore this with the third party provider- too close to subcontracting and it will get you in hot water!
