Early Completion - sense check

Created

Hi all,

We have two pupils who have completed their apprenticeships early and passed with distinctions. The planned end date was September 2023 and they recently passed at the end of May.

The employer (Levy) has stopped their DAS records.

As far as I am aware, they would have needed to not touch the DAS record, and we would have received the remaining funding - the few months of monthly instalments plus the completion payment? Rather than just receiving for the months they were on the apprenticeship up until May?

Just wanted to check that is correct?

Thank you

So, if they complete early, you get a balancing payment when they complete, so, regardless of the stop (assuming it's no earlier than May!), you will get all the money it will just be a slightly different profile.

Thanks Steve,

Could you break that down a bit more for me?

The stop date is May (01/05/2023).

So we will get all the remaining funding in one bulk once we've submitted the achieved date in the ILR, despite the employer stopping the record?

The DAS instruction to employers includes ‘Do not stop an apprenticeship that's completed’ this is the reason you have not been paid. The employer will need to create a new record for the learner on DAS so that payments can be made for the balance of funding and the completion.

Why do they do it?

We recently had a similar situation recently where an apprentice sat EPA in December and then immediately left the company, and the employer put a stop on the record in December. I was under the impression that we would need to get the employer to move the stop into January, but they never did this. When the outcome was recorded a couple of months later we still received the completion payment and the record status on DAS has changed from stopped to completed.
