Extended break in learning
Edited

We have an apprentice who has gone on a break in learning due to a serious injury. He has since decided to take an extended break in learning for a year, which will mean he will have been on a BIL for around 18 months by the time he returns. He will not receive a salary during his extended BIL, but will remain in employment. Are we OK to extend his BIL, given that he will not be paid during this time, or should we withdraw him?

The QAR limits a BIL to approximately two years before it marks them as a withdrawal so it should be Ok.
