Monitoring OTJ for resits

Created

None

Hi,

If an apprentice fails a full year and needs to resit, does OTJ still need to be monitored during the year that they are resitting?

Our thought process is is that this learning is not technically 'new learning' and so shouldn't count towards OTJ?

Thanks,

Claire

Good old degree apprenticeships (I'm assuming). I'd personally say yes, on the basis that if they're resitting a year, that suggests they weren't sufficiently competent the first time round, so clearly need more teaching/learning. Is it brand new? No, but then nor is revision.. and they changed their mind on that being acceptable as OTJ recently. Happy to hear arguments against though.

However did you guess haha?

I had the same thought as this, also because the rules start OTJ should be monitored from start date to actual end date (so would include the resit)

Thanks Ben!

Hey Claire, I was going to say the same thing as Ben but had to get my account set up first!

If its required my mandated qual then the resit is fundable too which suggest to me OTJ should be accrued too.

Hi Helen,

Thank you, we thought so.

Hope you are well :)
