Redundancy & Break in learning
Created
Hi there.
We have a learner who has just been made redundant and are aware we have 12 weeks to gain a new apprenticeship as their planned end of the practical period is in 2024. Can we put them on a BiL while we support them to gain a new employer?

Why would you use a BIL as the principle behind redundance is that you would continue to draw down funds for the 12 weeks?
The learner has been stressed out by the redundancy and needs time to prepare for further job interviews. We don't want to add additional pressure for a short period of time.
The flow chart for a BIL requires that they will return to the same employer and as this is not the case the guidance states this must be a withdrawal.
