It won't, really. They say they can hold back your monthly payments if you're not recording co-investment payments in a timely manner, but I've never heard of that happening.
The only way it'll affect you is if you're expecting the completion payment in 22/23. You won't get that until they've paid and you've recorded it on the ILR.
Huh, I swear the original question was about them paying in a 22/23 invoice in the 23/24 contract year?
In any case, if they're still on programme and haven't yet completed you should be fine. You always have to record it as of the date you actually received the payment
When you have received a cash payment, you must record a separate payment (PMR) record for each payment that the employer makes to you. The financial record date must be set to the date you received payment from the employer.
If they've already completed and you're trying to do this retrospectively you will almost certainly encounter issues.

QQ regarding dates on payments rec'd for co inv
Can you add payments rec'd in a previous year to the current ILR and how does it have an impact going forward?
