Transfers from training providers

Hi All. I don't know how common this is for everyone else but we have seen a sharp increase in employers enquiring about transferring their current on programme apprentices over to us. The issue is that they have been on programme for 3-7 months but completed very little which means effectively we need to decide if we can take the hit on funding previously drawn down. Is there a mechanism for us to notify the ESFA or complain? We can always turn these opportunities down but it seems like everyone loses besides the previous training provider who have been paid to not deliver anything.

Thanks in advance, Matt

I'm sure ESFA would be interested, problem is finding the right person to tell... Would usually start with my contract manager...

But yes, tough if you take these people on and the initial provider has done next to nothing with them...

Thanks Steve, I will try and dig those contact details out.....

The conversation I'm having with one of the employers is that they need to speak to their current training provider and effectively complain about the service and agree on a stopped date. Am I right in saying that the employer is able to add any stopped date to the apprentice record? If they take them back to the start date, all funding will be clawed back or does this need to match what the training provider has inputted on the ILR?

Ah, not certain about that...

I *think* it would only stop them claiming any further money (because they'd get a DLOCK), I don't *think* it would clawback the amount already paid...

Also, hitting the stop button is the nuclear option (particularly back to start) as it's pretty much undoable...

We have this a lot with transfers from providers who have shut down etc. There are specific transfer teams in this instance your regional manager should be able to put you in contact with. Yes employer put a stop for when they transfer but must match ILR. Back to start is just not true. Taking the hit or adding a commercial cost on top are the only options.

Hi Matt,

I have been approached by an employer wanting to transfer several apprentices across to us and they have asked for advice on how to do so. I have been searching the funding rules etc but can't seem to find anything. Do you have any advice on where I could look and would be suitable to share with an employer.

Many Thanks
