AEB or Apprenticeship Functional Skills Training

Created

None

Hi,

We want to get ahead with the functional skills before our next cohort starts, we want to offer pre-apprenticeships for Maths & English for those wishing to go onto an apprenticeship.

Would we claim this through the AEB or the apprenticeship funding?

Thanks

It's kind of implicit in the AEB Rules that this is now fine (although, to be fair, doing English and Maths in the workplace has *always* been fine). Apprenticeship funding can only be used to deliver Standards.

Only issue is they can't be "capital A" Apprentices if they're not doing an Apprenticeship, ie they'd need to be paid the real minimum wage, not the App wage. Also, they may well learn a bit more about their role and therefore need more RPL if they're not coming straight onto the App.
