Planned hours

Our training plan has 402 hours in it, which equates to 67 weeks / 15.5 months learning.

We allow an additional 48 hours (8 weeks at 6hrs a week) in the learning plan to account for times through the course when the apprentice is on leave etc.  That would make it 75 weeks / 17.26 months learning.  We round this up to 18 months as that is the maximum for the course we run.

When calculating the planned end date, we look at the number of weeks including the additional time  - eg, if someone is on the full course, then that would be 18 months and calculates to 420 OtJ hours.

Let's say an apprentice has 380 hours of actual learning in the learning plan.  We calculate the planned end date by using the additional 48hrs - in this case equates to 428 hours so planned end date would be 18 months and OtJ would be 420hrs.

In the IRL, would we therefore put 380 hr as the planned hours, as this is what is actually showing in the learning plan, in which case the OtJ hours will be more than the planned hours.  Or do we put the maximum hours of 428, in which case the OtJ hours will be less than the planned hours?

I hope this makes sense.  Any advise appreciated.

You should not account for times through the course when the apprentice is on leave but only the hours of statutory leave when you calculate the min OTJ hours for the duration of the programme, the hours reported in the training plan and ILR must equal or greater than this min value.

Min OTj Hours=78 weeks (minus statutory leave 8.4 ) x 30 hours) x 0.2 = 418
