Hi Ben,
Don't calculate your percentage with the "total number of Apprentices" as the denominator, use the "total number of programme aims", this should be the far right column, of the FE provider dashboard, filtered to apprenticeships. this will be a higher number, and therefore result in the lower percentage.
Martin
Huh, right you are! The percentages now tally, thanks Martin Outlaw.
Is that correct, though? I do recall this being discussed before on here, I think about BILs, but the guidance clearly states for pretty much all measures:
We’ll assess organisations as ‘at risk’ if their withdrawals are greater than 35% of the total number of apprentices.
We’ll assess organisations as ‘needs improvement’ if either:
- their withdrawals are less than or equal to 35% and greater than 15% of the total number of apprentices
- more than 250 apprentices have withdrawn
Indeed, the guidance would indicate that your original choice would be the correct one, but it does not appear to be the case. I have been calculating my own figures for the AAF since it's original release, initially using the Apps indicative payment report as the main data source, but now taking it from the FIS SQL database "Valid Learning delivery" table. It has always been necessary to use the total programme aims figure to match the published results.
There are still some areas that I have issues with, such as the BIL count of learners >= 180 days, or >= 365 days, in my view these have not being calculated to the end of the period, but the file submission deadline. I have yet to review the R13 figures for this, as I have been concentrating on R01 / R02, but I shudder to think what date they used for that, but I have a nasty feeling it was 14th September, as a quick look shows our numbers have gone up, and frankly there is no reason for that to have occurred.
Ben,
I raised a service desk query (R10) regarding learners being counted as past their planned end date, when their planned end date fell between the period end date and the file submission date. The second part of the query was regarding the double counting of leaners who went on a second BIL, and that the days count went from the first BIL, and ignored the interim period of learning.
The second part of the query was addressed, the first has not been. I will be re-raising this with specific refence to R13.

Accountability dashboard percentage issues?
Edited
I'm sure it's a straightforward thing I'm missing.. but can anyone explain why the percentages don't seem to come out right?
For instance, on the withdrawals the 'Current number of withdrawals' is 20, though 1 is excluded because of >42 days, so 19 overall.
The 'Total number of apprentices' at the top is 243, which I am assuming has been calculated based on their own logic of "all apprentices within the academic year regardless of status" etc.
19 / 243 = 7.8%
However, the percentage on the withdrawals page is 6.9%
What am I missing? It's not as if I am using my own figures to calculate the percentage, they're literally the numbers on the withdrawals page..
