Learning Support (disability)

Hi All,

We have a new apprentice starting with us who is deaf and will require BSL throughout the course.

I know there is ALS we can claim but the cost of the signer outweighs the ALS funding.

Should we be looking at EAS? Additional funding is something we have never had to look into until now.

Any information and experiences greatly received.

Thank you

Yes! Where a learner requires more than £150 of support a month (which someone requiring an interpreter definitely will!!!), EAS is the way forward.

Effectively you claim the full amount over £150 through the EAS claim. Means you need to keep a much tighter eye on costs but the funding is there to be used!

Brilliant!

Thanks Steve. Now to filter through the guidance on how we do this.
