Redundancy- 12 weeks

Created

None

Hi All,

I recently read through some guidance which has confused me. It says:

1) Redundant apprentices can continue with their off-the-job training for at least 12 weeks while they look for another employer
2) If the apprentice is made redundant, we provide funding support for a minimum of 12 weeks

I'm confused by the 'at least' and 'minimum' wording as i thought that the apprentice will be funded for a MAXIMUM of 12 weeks after which they are a LNA.
The Funding Rules state:
229.1. We will fund the remaining costs of the price previously negotiated for up to 12 weeks, while the apprentice seeks a new employer

I'm not sure if its just me reading it incorrectly, to me it doesn't make sense. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Jenny

The wording confusion is due to 2 separate rules for redundancy rules one where they have completed less than 75% of the apprenticeship practical period and one for more than 75%.

Thanks Martin.

I see now! If the apprentice has done over 75% of the apprenticeship then they can stay on for an unlimited time (hence at least 12 weeks!). Sorry if i was being silly.
