Could argue we have to return a Destination & Progression record, so it's contractual, but as that has a "not known" option, it's flimsy. But also, it's probably PECR not GDPR?
Personally, I'd make it explicit in the Privacy Statement that part of the way we use the learner's data is to contact them after they have left to find out what they're doing, but that's not going to help you with your current leavers!

Wonder if you can offer some advice. If we have learners who leave the programme early (any programme) and they have ticked the 'do not wish to be contacted' can we still send out a learner survey to gather information around why they have left, or does this directly contradict GDPR?
