Oh, that is weird.
Just using the Companies House look up and this does seem to be the case. So very old colleges and very new college groups appear to have CRNs, but "normal", incorporated in 1992, colleges don't seem to show up...

Good morning, everyone,
I'm looking for some guidance regarding Company Reference Numbers.
It's my understanding that some employers we work with will offer a CRN, as they are incorporated following registration with Companies House (Gov.UK). However, is it also possible that some employers we work with will also not have a CRN, and will not need to provide this information?
We're looking to onboard an employer who is a College, who have stated that as a College, there is no associated Company Number. Is this purely due to their Business Type, and is thus acceptable? We work with other Colleges who have been able to offer a Company Number (though is this potentially due to them operating as part of a Trust?).
Most of the guidance I can find online points in this direction, though I'd like some confirmation if possible!
