Apprenticeship RPL/Withdrawal/Employer Transfer

Created

Hello,

I’m looking for MIS advice (weeps).

We have an apprentice who resigned in July 2023 and had a last day in learning (technically in June 2023).  This was processed as a withdrawal in October 2023 before the R14 - AY 2223 as they had not secured a new employer by week 12.

However, it transpires that not only were MIS not informed so he could be put on a break learning in July (day 30) but he continued engaging with his apprenticeship with the apprenticeship team and has still been doing so even though he was withdrawn in October (mind boggles).

He has found a new employer but am I treating this as a restart (original start date) or do we need to RPL based on:

  • the proportion of OTJH undertaken from the the minimum (6 hours per week x duration) - 6 * 46.4  x 4 (4 year app)
  • the proportion of OTJH undertaken from the the OTJH calculated based on what we have deemed to be required to complete the standard which is higher than the minimum OTJH?

or

  • should I be discounting the funding that has already been claimed last year as if it was a transfer of employer.  The new start date will need to be in January 2024 as the reservation has only been made.

The standard max funding has also changed from £18k to £20k

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Sarah
