I think this is right enough, keeping them engaged is a good thing (particularly at that low level!), as is getting them through the exam when they're ready. Don't think I'd worry about an additional aim because the hours are there already. Also, there isn't really the concept of RPL in Study Progs, you just need to set up an appropriate programme when they return next year which may or may not include fewer hours for the L1, depending on how they're getting on.

Functional Skills - Early Achievement & Continuing
Created
Hi all,
I'm looking for some help in terms of process for some 16-18 learners.
We have some learners who have been enrolled on Entry 3 Functional Skills in Maths or English. They have taken the exam in Feb/March and have achieved which we have set the record as achieved.
The learner/staff want to keep upskilling the student and work towards the Level 1 Functional Skill to keep them engaged, I don't want to enrol this learner for March 2024 to June 2024 and expect the learner to achieve because they would fail and impact our achievement rate.
I also don't want to put them on a roll-over record for March 2024 to June 2025 because this learner could find a job over the summer not come back & again would impact our achievement rate.
Currently, we enrol the learner on the next level, for timetabling purposes, get the learning agreement signed & make the enrolment fund model 99 & exclude the planned hours so we don't double count.
Would anyone have any advice on this scenario, is there potential for us to enrol on a non-regulated qualification for 3-4 months with clear expectations & RPL the functional skills enrolment for 24/25 if the learner returns?
Any thoughts would be most appreciated!
Ryan
