CITIZENCARD is it acceptable for residency proof?

Created

Does anyone know if a CITIZENCARD proof of age card is acceptable for proof of residency please?

I have checked the process to get one and there are residency checks made and the card is issued by National Police Cheifs Council. It has an ID photo on it and a card number plus the full name and DOB.

Some learners don't have a passport and can't find their birth certificate so this is the next best thing for them to use as ID but not sure if acceptable for funding purposes?

Thanks

You treading into Steve’ I’m going to blow a gasket’ territory lol

What is the nationality of the learner you are refering to and can I also ask who provides the funding ? Is it the ESFA or a devolved region?

Oops! sorry to Steve.

British Citizen, devolved area.

My colleague I would normally check with is on leave this week, hence my request on here :-)

The learner in question actually provided a passport in the end but be useful to know for future.

I've not heard of Citizen cards for British nationals.

I'm not sure I'm best to advise you as in the College I work for we always check passports (and in some cases birth certs), we wouldn't accept this for a UK national.

I do know of providers that dont check residency documents at all and just go by self declarations.

Sorry for not being much help.

Ahhh no worries, thanks anyway, I know someone that doesn't drive so he has a citizen card to use as ID (its acceptable at polling stations) and it also saves 18+ youngsters taking passports and driving licences on nights out to use as ID in case they lose them!.

We are the same as you, passports and birth certificates but looking at the application process for a citizen card you have to be legally resident in the UK to have one.

Thanks for responding to my request.
