Co-investment payment received after EPA achievement date

Created

Hello I have an apprentice who has achieved their EPA but the completion payment has not been paid, the employer has outstanding

co-investment payment to pay. As the apprentice would not carry over into 24/25 as their achievement is in June 2024, if the employer pays the outstanding payments after 31/07/2024 can these payments still be recorded on the 23/24 ILR?

Would appreciate any feedback.

thank you

Hi Angela,

Yes, but you would want it asap as you need to record it in your ILR so that it can reconcile before Period 14 closes, or you will lose your completion payment if it is not recorded as received before the final return for 23/24.

Hope this helps.

Hi Angela

There was a very specific technical thing with this a couple of years ago as well (unsure if it's fixed now). Presuming you get the money between next Thursday and R14 closing, you need to record the PMR with a date of 31/7/24 or it gets very confused and doesn't release the completion payment. If you get the money before R13, worth trying it with the real date to see if this has been fixed, but don't be surprised if it hasn't!

Then just put a note on the learner's file to say why you've done it, record the real date and that should be fine for audit.

Hi Steve Hewitt what if there is a payment that was made in 22/23 funding year, but was missed out from the ILR, would a date in the previous year work to release a completion payment? Or would we have to date it in the latest funding year when they complete (before 01/08/2024) and justify it? Thanks.

I think a 13 month old PMR would be fine (presuming it was after the start of the apprenticeship (!!!))? Get it in nownow so you can see if it works in R13 and then, if not, you can try something else.
