Advanced Learner Loan Bursary Payments

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could help in regards to Advanced Learner Loan Bursary Payments. We are fairly new to delivering ALL.

We seem to be receiving bursary payments on a monthly basis, however, we are unsure as to why and who the payments are for. We are assuming these need to be passed onto to a learner, however, we are unsure of who the learner is.

Can anyone help shed some light on where I would need to look to find out this information?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Been a while but I don't think it's changed. So, as part of your allocation, you'll have a bursary allocation as well. This is just paid to you over the year in, as you've seen, monthly chunks. It's actually for two things:

1. Supporting Loan learners as you would AEB learners with travel, childcare etc

2. If you are delivering in London and the South East, to give you an equivalent Area Cost Uplift as though you were delivering AEB (without having to charge the learners for it!)

In terms of 1, you get it and then need to show you've spent it. The individual amounts don't go in the ILR but you need to flag any learners you have supported using the ALB Funding and Monitoring code: ILR Specification 2023 to 2024: Attribute: Advanced Learner Loans Bursary funding (submit-learner-data.service.gov.uk). If 2 applies, you just get it and don't need to show you've spent it per se.

You put how much you've spent in the year end funding claim, as per instructions here (scroll down to ALLB part): How to submit a funding claim for 2023 to 2024 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
