Good afternoon all,
We have an apprentice who has completed 3 of the 4 years of his apprenticeship. He has unfortunately been made redundant by his Employer and has until 2nd October to find a new employer under the 12 week rule. Unfortunately he has let us know that due to personal reasons he is unable to interview/look for new employment. He is asking to take a 12 month BIL.
We looked back at funding rules for his year start (2021) and it looks like he would be eligible for the 75% rule where he could complete the apprenticeship without an employer and still get ESFA funding for this. If this is definitely an option for him, do you know whether we could also put him on the 12 month BIL he has requested aswell as flagging the ILR as being made redundant or whether this would not be possible and he'd have to complete the year now?
