Partner but not Director (Eligible?)
Created
Hi all,
I'd like to get an opinion on this.
We have someone applying for an apprenticeship and they are classed as a "partner" in the business and not a director.
The help-desk have come back to the learner after they originally were rejected as eligible.
Thoughts, anyone else had someone of this status apply to be an apprentice.

Dear ****,
Thank you for contacting Apprenticeship Service support recently. My name is Honorine the adviser you spoke with.
Your ticket number: ******.
In our call we discussed the following funding rules, as you wanted to clarify if you can apply for an apprenticeship as a partner in the business.
22. A provider must not claim funding for individuals who:
22.1. Are self-employed as a sole trader;
22.3. Are a shareholder / director with no separate identifiable line manager to undertake the role of ‘employer’, as defined by these funding rules;
On the phone we advised that you being a partner and wanting to complete an apprenticeship should not be an issue as long as there is someone within the organisation that can act as your employer relating to the apprenticeship.
As the quote above refers to sole traders, shareholders or directors, and not partner, we have also raised this query to our technical team, for final confirmation.
I hope you have found this information useful, ****.
