Reimbursement When Apprentice Withdraws

Created

None

If an apprentice withdraws from programme before Gateway, and the employer pays the 5% contribution in full at the start, do you reimburse the employer based on the total co-investment divided by months already on programme to give work out the overpayment? eg:

  • Total contribution = £1000 for 12 month programme
  • Apprentice withdrew after 4 months = £333.33 amount actually due from employer
  • Reimbursement = £ 666.67

Or do you work out the 5% of the EPA cost, reimburse that in full, and then make the calculation based on the remainder?

Thanks

Hi Rachel

If the £1000 in your example includes the 20% outcome payment, then it would be the 20% + the monthly amount. So:

Total: £1000

20%: £200

80%: £800

Monthly Payments: £66.66

Reimbursement would be £733.28 (8 x £66.66 + £200).

Hope this helps.

Thank you - the £1000 in the example was separate to the achievement payment, so this does not need to be considered. I need to know whether it is just the one calculation or if I need to work out the EPA percentage and then the training cost percentage please?

Thanks
