So, if that's what they've got then their claim is still under consideration (and a year is *not* uncommon given the current dire state of processing Asylum apps...), so they'd be eligible for Adult Skills Funding per this para:
Adult skills fund: funding and performance management rules 2024 to 2025 - GOV.UK
Also, given the change to the "unemployed" definition, Asylum Seekers are now considered to be fully fundable as they are "in receipt of state benefit" (presuming they're not working).
Thanks, Steve, that's helpful. I did think that but given the amount of different examples we see, it's a minefield, isn't it! Whilst I'm on here, does anybody know if there is some training via the Home Office or similar that we could access to review these types of documentation.

ARC Claimed ID Asylum
Created
Hi All
We're assessing a student's eligibility to ASF funding and they have provided an ARC card which doesn't expire until November 2025 but the type of permit is marked as 'ARC - Claimed ID Asylum'.
I've not seen this before. Has anyone else had experience of it?
We're trying to determine if they have a right to study, since they are clearly claiming some sort of asylum and remarks include that work is permitted due to shortage occ. But the permit was issued a year ago and is still in application stage, so we're unsure if details infer leave to enter or remain.
Any assistance would be gratefully received!
