Component aims within an apprenticeship

Created

None

Can anyone help with an internal debate we are having please around component aims as part of an apprenticeship. I have looked and was unable to find anything in the PSM or ILR guidance so hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

If someone has completed all of their learning but still has the test to sit, do we keep them as completion status – 1 and record an outcome – 8 or do we put them down as completion – 2 and outcome 8?

Or do we just leave them as continuing until they have sat the test?

 Many thanks in advance

I don't think you can put components to 1&8, that is only really for Prog Aims (unsure whether it actually errors). Would just treat them like a classroom aim, so up to you whether you put them to 2&8 or leave them as 1 until you know the result, makes no odds from a data/funding point of view.

Thanks Steve, we had them as 2 & 8 but its been flagged in an audit that we don't have evidence from the AO of completion, we won't until they sit the test which they do during EPA so doubted myself if we should just be leaving them as continuing

Um, OK... Surely the evidence that they've completed is the last mark on the register? Some auditors with funny opinions out there (particularly on something that can't be a funding issue although, if they're looking at this stuff, sounds like all the important bits went well!!!)

I assume these apprenticeship aims that are 2&8 are non-mandatory to the STD? Or else they wouldn't have been able to enter gateway.

Doesn't help you for right now, this is why we record ours as FM99 & Aim Type 4, if the ESFA/Auditors want an opinion on these courses we are delivering in good faith to students/employers they can start contributing towards it.

If I was in the scenario of having them as components I would have done a 2&8 and waited for the achievement when the learner sat in EPA to then change it to 2&1. As Steve makes no difference from a funding point of view.
