I know I have asked this a few times but....

If a learner has aims for a supported internship like:

Supported Internship

An Accredited Qualification

Non Reg Provision Level 1 English

Non Reg Provision Level 1 Maths

Which is the Core Aim - The Qualification or the Supported Internship aim??

I've been round the block three times trying to find a definitive answer to this and I'm saying there isn't one...

But, having said that, if we're assuming that the placement, Z0002347, is the largest part of their programme, then:

The core aim for most students will be either:

  1. one or more substantial academic, applied or technical qualifications which have approved funding and appear on DfE’s list of approved qualifications for 16 to 19 and that they will prepare the student for further education (FE) or employment, or
  2. a substantial work placement to prepare the student for an apprenticeship or other employment.

from here 16 to 19 study programmes guidance: 2024 to 2025 academic year - GOV.UK would apply I'd have thought?

The work placement should definitely be the core aim - it is expressed in this piece of guidance

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/supported-internships-for-young-people-with-learning-difficulties/supported-internships#introduction

' The core aim of a supported internship study programme is a substantial work placement, facilitated by the support of an expert job coach.'
