Redundancy

Hi, We have an Apprentice who was made redundant on the 10.01.2025 due to her Employer closing down the Salon.  She now has 12 weeks to find herself a new Employer by the 04.04.2025 but at this moment this hasn’t happened.  Within this time she has managed to achieve her Vocational Qualification earlier than planned as she has attended extra classes whilst she has been looking for a new Employer.  My question is, if she hasn’t found a new Employer by the 04.04.2025 and we have to withdraw her from her programme and update the ILR with this information, can this learner sit her EPA after this date or not? TIA

Hi Helen,

Has your learner completed 75% of her learning or is 6 months to her end date ? if yes she can complete the remainder of her apprenticeship no problem.

Apprentices who meet the above definition may continue their apprenticeship
training without being employed under an apprenticeship agreement (see
paragraph 71). In these circumstances the provider can continue to deliver the
apprenticeship training so long as all the remaining elements, including the endpoint assessment, can still be successfully delivered.

If that is not the case of her then she will need to be withdrawn and can't complete the end point assessment. I hope this helps.

Where a new employer is not found within 12 weeks, the provider must record
the apprentice as withdrawn (by reason of redundancy) and they must issue the
apprentice with a ‘record of apprenticeship part-completion’ to support them to
find new employment.
