Suspending Functional Skills for a period of time

Hi There

Can i ask how you would action this in the ILR

If a apprentice has to do both math and English alongside their Standard, can you put one FS on as a temporary suspension so they can do one first then once achieved, open up the next functional skill with start dates and re do training plan? So still evidencing you enrolled correctly and the learner is required to do both but not to draw down funding until the learner is in attendance ?

We have  a learner who has become overwhelmed with doing both and stopped attending one, it has been agreed they can do one first, and my thought process is to suspend back to start date of when this was planned and then re start when ready?

Please can anyone advise how they do this please without putting them both on the ILR with start dates say 6 months staggered as this to me runs the risk of not checking if they are in lessons when the funding kicks in.

If they have already started both (which is my understanding), then I would put the one they have stopped attending on break, from the last time they did learning, not the start date, and restart once they've completed the other subject. Only put on break with the start date if they did not attend at all AND the start date is in a previous funding year. 

Where we stagger the start of FS, we make sure the training plan has both set of dates. 

We have a "pre-enrolled" status in our system, so staff are aware that that both are needed, but that one has not started yet. 

The one starting latest is made "active" and goes into the ILR once the learning has actually started. The TP should be updated if they start this earlier or later than originally planned.

This results in us proving that we have 1) planned for both, 2) not drawn down funding for the second aim before they actually started.

This works for us, but I understand that it might not work for all depending in your internal processes.
