Progress Review Frequency

Created

None

Hi all,

Can anybody advise with regards to the below funding rule where it is suggested that an alternative frequency to the three month calendar rule can be agreed with the employer for the completion of progress reviews, whether or not the alternative frequency still has to be within three months.

We're just looking for further clarification with regards to what is acceptable with regards to the alternative frequency from an audit and compliance point of view…do the progress reviews still need to be completed within three months or is a longer timeframe (frequency) acceptable for a three/four year apprenticeship duration.

Progress reviews

92. During the practical period, the provider must undertake a progress review, to discuss the progress to date of the apprentice against their training plan, at least every 3 calendar months. For example, if a progress review takes place on 1 August 2025, the next review must take place on or before 30 November 2025.

92.1. If there is an evidenced delivery reason, such as module length, that means an alternative frequency is more appropriate the provider must be able to evidence that this has been agreed with the employer. Learning support reviews (where applicable) must still take place at least every 3 calendar months.

We have raised this query with Apprenticeship Service Support, but are awaiting their response.

As I understand it, the rule is intended to allow for a spacing of progress reviews at greater than 3 months intervals if this suits the delivery model better and the employer agrees.
