In the Adult skills fund: funding rules 2025 to 2026 - GOV.UK under Fees and Charging you have "You must not make compulsory charges relating to the direct costs of delivering a learning aim to learners we fully fund"
I think I see where you'd want to go with it, hoping where learners have paid a commitment fee they will be more likely to turn up but where I don't believe you can make this a compulsory cost, a small minority would pay it & will be more hassle than it's worth in my opinion.
What happens next? A learner achieves you'll need to obtain bank details & BACS transfer the deposit back? Then you'll have a different set of admin work you're trying to avoid just re-directing it to your Finance department.

Charging Admin Fees
Edited
Hello All,
Can anyone provide clarification if learners on Skills Bootcamps or ASF courses can be charged an admin fee and / or deposit for their training?
Whilst I think I already know the answer; I just need some reassurance as I am being questioned internally as some of our courses we have a high no show rate on Day 1.
Any advice would be useful.
Thanks
