Progressing Apprentices to next level after gateway

You can't start them on the next one until they've finished the current one, the dates can't overlap...

Sorry to reply on an old post, but just to clarify for a situation we have, when we say dates can't overlap - if the achievement date for a learner was early September, they can start a new apprenticeship on a higher level in September as long as it doesn't pre-date the achievement of the old one (in this case 30th Sep)?

I suspect from the Apprenticeship Service POV because it won't allow the new record to be added while the old one is open, we might have to exclude them from September's ILR until the completion has gone through the system then add them in from October's ILR?

I don't get it, if you know the AchDate now, why aren't you putting it in this month's ILR?

Thanks Steve. Sorry if I wasn't clear, yes we have the AchDate now and can put this in, but if we try and submit both the completion and the new start in September, we get an ILR data mismatch as its trying to match the new start against the existing record. We can't have the employer put a new record on for the start yet because the existing record is live. When I said exclude on the ILR, I meant the new start record not the existing (completion) one.

Right, with you. I'm afraid the deepest workings of the AS are beyond even my comprehension at times...

Sounds like, yes, you'll need to leave the new start off til next month if it's doing that, but hopefully someone else will be along in a minute to tell you what the trick is...
