Apprenticeship EPA Resit With Further Teaching / Training

Created

We have an apprentice who failed their EPA and wants to resit (the employer has agreed to pay the resit costs).  He is going to come in on block release for more teaching / training so that he may be able to pass his EPA.

As the apprentice has gone past their planned end date and so is now out of funding, do we need to do anything in terms of revised paperwork / ILR etc?

Do we leave the enrolment as it is (enrolment status is 'Continuing') and then complete / achieve the record in due course?

Thank you

In a word, yes. We don't complete a learner until they stop doing their EPA, however many goes it takes.

Thanks Steve Hewitt - do we need to keep recording Off The Job hours on the journal / e-portfolio?

Oh, good question. Probably "yes"? Presuming the learner has done sufficient OTJ already, it's not super important, but probably more useful to record what they're doing for quality purposes and deciding when they're ready for a re-sit than funding? I suppose it falls into the "is this new learning?" debate (if they were theoretically "competent" when put in for Gateway, then does them failing mean they weren't???)...

Steve Hewitt Thanks - good point about the quality aspect, we will continue logging activity 😊
