Thanks Steve, this is from our non educational experienced contracting team. We have always delivered on this basis and have done so at other organisations. We are currently in audit but are not being shared any direct audit instructions/queries we are only receiving the contracting teams versions.
This along with the belief that learners cannot complete maths and English at the same time?? Make no sense, I have never heard this from any other provider.
Hi Jen Harper,
Agree with Steve I've neve seen anywhere that says you can't use the same aim for different provision.
That being said I'm not sure I understand your model for FS provision. Do you do steps 123 at the same time or concurrently. If so what is the reasoning for doing E3 Study skills after E3 Qual?
If you are doing Steps 1 and 3 before the FS qual (step 2 ) is there a reason why you don't combine the two steps into one 18hr aim prior to the start of the FS? This would remove the need to claim the 'aim' twice.

WHAT??? This is, um, well, er, OK I've got nothing...
From a purely cold perspective 12 hours subject unspecific exam and revision prep sounds like a lot to me. If you are doing maths/eng specific revision then you may find questions are asked as to whether this is actually a non-regulated version of a regulated aim - rehashing the E3 FS aim.
Also if you are pitching it as study skills - topic inspecific - are you making sure that if you have a learner doing both maths and english that they are not enrolled to step 3 for both aims. And/Or if they did E3 maths last year and E3 english this year they are not repeating the aim as they would have completed it last year.
I would qualify my comments in that we have similar provision here - TL aims that support formal learning. Personally I make sure that we have the curriculum team document the need for the learning on an individual basis. It may not be true that ALL adult learners need the extra confidence boosting course. Although in our experience the majority do :-)
I raise this only as an example of making sure that paperwork is in place to mitigate any difficult questions at audit :-)

Using TL Z COdes more than once

I have seen a few queries on here but still not clear. We are based in London and have always taken FS learners through 3 stages and claim 3 learning outcomes.
1. Step into FS E3 - use a E3 Z code for 12 GLH pre TL, post TL the relevant subject/level aim
2. FS E3 qual - relevant accredited aim
3. Study skills at E3 - pre TL we used another E3 Z code to account for 6 hours of study skills support
Step 3 is the issue with TL we are now being told we cannot do this even if we change the outcome. Any advice or pointers? Can we use for instance Z0060120 or should we just be using the same Z code we use in step 1 and change the outcome?
Also if we use for instance TL for creative arts but deliver 4 very different classes using the same code (eg. acting skills, dancing skills, singing skills, guitar skills) and a learner does all 4 can we claim for times - the guide implies you can but it is not fully clear.
All help MUCH appreciated as I am going mad!
