Employer obligations for ALS

Created

None

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of any DfE publication that states that an employer must release an apprentice for ALS support if this has been identified. The guidance is there for those requiring maths or English but I can't find anything that specifically states that time must be allowed for support outside of this.

The lack of obvious guidance seems to allow for support being delivered outside of normal working hours which feels at odds with other rules and will likely be a cause for concern when Ofsted come knocking. However, presumably for those apprentices who do not wish to declare a learning need to their employer, support would have to be in their own time?

Obviously we encourage employers to provide this time regardless of published guidance but we are working with a few employers that are very rules focussed and often question their obligations.
