Apprenticeship/EHCP High Needs Funding

Created

None

Hoping someone can give me a a steer on where to investigate this further. Has anyone ever looked at having an Apprentice that has an EHCP and would therefore be eligible for High Needs Funding from the Local Authority "Element 3" contribution? So if it's possible, I assume the LA could pay what would normally be the EAS, but that doesn't right in the High Needs Funding Guidance where the LA pay above the E1/E2 amounts.
Anyone looked at this previously or know where I could investigate?

Hi Dave

No, that's not how it works. Any Apprenticeship additional support is provided directly by DfE. You claim £150/month via the ILR then the excess via the Earnings Adjustment Statement (up to £19k pa), LAs aren't involved at all.

Thanks Steve, thought that would be the case. Alternative is to do it as a Supported Internship.

You *can* have more than £19k if that's your problem, you just need to do the Exceptional Learning Support form (in advance ideally):

Exceptional learning support – cost form - GOV.UK

I'd have thought the LA would be delighted to have a learner off their books!!!
