Learner Support 20+ Childcare

Hello  I need to claim 'Learner Support 20+ Childcare' which is over £500.  Can I do this via EAS and if so do I need to claim the first £150 via the ILR.  Been reading all of the guides etc and it still seems confusing to me.  This will be the first claim I have made via EAS so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Wendy

Hi Wendy Kay,

Short answer - No and No :-)
Child care is learn'er' Support and should be claimed on the learner support line of your funding claim.

You need to retain evidence of spend as you may be asked to justify it by the DfE at audit.

The £150 is for learn'ing' support; where your costs are greater than £150 per month you can use the EAS to claim additional money above the £150 per month.

From: Adult skills fund: funding and performance management rules 2025 to 2026 - glossary section:

Learner support Funding to enable providers to support learners with a specific financial hardship that might prevent them from being able to start or complete their learning. May be used to ‘top up’ childcare costs for 19-year-old learners receiving Care to Learn funding if their costs exceed the weekly maximum rates for that scheme.

Learning support Funding to enable providers to put in place a reasonable adjustment, set out in the Equality Act 2010, for learners with an identified learning difficulty and/or disability to achieve their learning goal.

HTH,

Phil
