Last Day of Learning - Apprentices

Created

Hello,

We are having internal discussions about what classes as Last Day of Learning for our apprentices.  They are all work based so a class/seminar/lecture isn't an option to use.

Suggestions have been :

  • last submission of a workbook or
  • a 1-to-1 session discussing what is expected in EPA or
  • a mock professional discussion

What do other people use please?

I have been using the last date that they have evidenced on their off-the-job training log, but would be interested to hear what others use too.

Joanne Sage are you doing checks that the last date on their OTJ log meets the requirements of relevant to the standard and is teaching new KSBs?  I am just thinking that some learners might record something that doesn't actually class as OTJ/learning.  I feel it is quite subjective.

Joanne Sage

Yes we do thorough checks on all OTJT logs and are quite strict on rejecting any that we feel fall outside the funding rules, so I would be satisfied that they have recorded actual new learning relevant to the standard.

Steve Hewitt

Agree with Joanne. If it doesn't meet the reqs you mention Lisa then it's not valid OTJ anyway, also remember revision is now eligible so, eg, a mock professional discussion would be legit both as OTJ and as a last date.

Martin Locock

I'm not sure a mock professional discussion would count, since that is preparing for the EPA, not training or revision in the KSBs.
