Hi Rachel
No limit on how long someone can be 1&8. If no assessor is *ever* available then the learner can't resit BUT as they've completed all elements of the EPA at least once, you could put them as 2&3 which, at least, would generate your completion payment (all other things being equal). I think you'd have to do that in the same academic year as the failed EPA was though (ie, if the failed EPA was last month, you'd have until R14 this year to decide).
Either way, tough on the learner as they're "just" a fail...
Thanks Steve Hewitt - our other concern around this is our current cohort who will complete in 18 months time. If there is a serious lack of assessors - and should the current one retire / resign etc - I assume its tough luck for us and the apprentice? I appreciate you may not know the answer to this..... 😊
Given the niche nature of the subject, I'd be working very very closely with the EPAO and (if there are any!!!) the other providers of this standard (can't see anyone doing it in the 23/24 NARTs?) to develop a plan for this...
(always loved the stonemasonry competition at worldskills, wonderful stuff to stand and watch for 10 minutes and then come back the next day to see how far they'd got)

No Assessors Available for EPA
Created
We have an stonemasonry apprentice who failed EPA and is due to re-sit (they are 1-Continuing with Outcome '8' in the ILR). However, we have been told that there is only 1 assessor in the country available to conduct the EPA.
Are we able to keep him as 1 and 8 in the ILR until the assessor is available and if so, for how long?
Any advice on what would happen if no assessor becomes available - would we and more importantly, the apprentice, lose out (as he would have to be a non achiever)?
Thank You
