Course Fees - Charging Over Weighted Rate

Created

Hi all,

We run the RHS Certificate in Practical Horticulture (61004868)

We are having a discussion regarding course prices & the weighted rate on this course is £1152

Locally, we know other providers are charging more than the weighted rate but if we do charge more do we need to make the course Full Cost? We have it in our heads that we should charge half the fully funded rate so £576 & don't want to do anything uncompliant.

Can we have the best of both and charge around the £1000 mark to stay competitive in the local market & also make this funded and receive the co-funded rate if we have fee-paying students?

So for a fully funded learner we will get the £1152 but for a co-funded student we would get around £1500?

There hasn't been any restriction in the national rules about how much we can charge for a long time (oh god, nearly 20 years...). Like it's literally not mentioned at all in the Funding Rules.

Agree with what Steve said.

BUT, its worth noting that auditors may still bring it up.  If they do, you can politely point out that it isn't in the funding rules any more ...
