Learner Support Funding

Created

Hi,

We use Cognassist to help us identify learners who require Learning Support and then we claim the funding for this. The ILR doesn't allow us to claim beyond the planned learning end date if the learner has not yet completed. Is there a reason for this, are we unable to claim for learning support beyond a learning planned end date as the learning is out of funding?

Thanks

Hi Chloe,

You can claim LS past the planned end date where the learner still needs it.

Hi Martin,

Thank you for responding. Do you know how we do this as our ILR doesn't allow it, would we use the EAS even though we are not claiming over the £150 a month?

Thank you

Hi Chloe,

Why will your ILR not allow you to do his?

The guidance is:

The Learning Support Funding (LSF) FAM type should be recorded against one of the learning aims for learners who need learning support funding. For apprenticeship and traineeship learners, this is recorded on the programme aim record only. For traineeship learners, once the Programme aim has ended the LSF is recorded against one of the remaining component aims if applicable.

For Apprenticeship Standards under Funding Model 36 the LSF FAM type can also be recorded against English/maths component aims. This is only the case where the English/maths component aim continues after the programme aim is closed, and the learner still requires learning support. This FAM type must only be recorded against one aim at any point in time.

Hi Chloe,

Your post has gone so continued it here

Did you include in the EPA costs any additional support costs for the end point assessment as you can include the following eligible costs where required:

EPA eligible costs includes costs

associated with providing guidance and support and the materials (non-capital items) used in the delivery of end-point assessment (equipment or supplies necessary to enable the assessment to take place)

to support any special arrangements the EPAO may need to put in place to ensure any apprentices with special educational needs, disabilities or with another temporary or permanent debilitating condition can fairly access end-point assessment

Looking back through this post and replies,  if a learner does not have an identified need for Learning Support, has really struggled with a functional skill and is now out of funding, would we now be able to claim Learning Support funding on the functional skill aim even though we haven't claimed it on the programme aim up to now?
