ITT Apprenticeships

Hi,

We are looking into delivering ITT apprenticeships - I would be very grateful if someone could please highlight the main differences between a normal apprenticeship and an ITT apprenticeship (if any).

My main issue is surrounding the functional skills, in terms of will these still be delivered? Will initial assessments work in the same way and so on.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Matt,

Do you offer teacher training at the moment?

The apprenticeship rules are the same for everyone, but ITT has the additional DfE rules that also have to be abided by.  As far as I'm aware, all the students have to have the L2 English and maths (and science for primary) prior to starting any ITT course.  The DfE list of acceptable quals is more generous than those accepted for apprenticeships - this has caused us problems previously.  If you don't currently offer teacher training, be aware that you'll also come under an additional ofsted inspecation regime as well as the normal inspection framework.

A bit late, but I hope this helps.
