Minimum duration formula

Created

I'm looking for some guidance on the minimum duration formula for apprentices that work fewer than 30 hours per week.

When I am calculating the extended duration do I need to use 30 hours/average weekly hours for all calculations or do I need to change this to what the hours would be if the apprentice worked full time?

When calculating the extended duration use the following:

P41 Where a part-time working pattern is needed, you must agree with the employer and the apprentice the extended apprenticeship duration. You must extend the minimum duration using the following formula:

P41.1 12 x 30/average weekly hours = new minimum duration in months; or

P41.2 52 x 30/average weekly hours = new minimum duration in weeks
