Moving Employer - utilising the 30 day 'grace' period

Created

Hi - where a learner is moving Employer but this change isn't happening "over the weekend" - how on earth does this get coded up?

For example - left LEVY emp on 20th - started with NON LEVY on 10th of next month.

So gap of 20 days - if I close down the ACT on 20th but dont open another ACT til 10th of the next month this triggers an error?

Help?

What error code do you get?

Carrie Rogers

R104 - either The "date applies to" on the ACT code does not match the end date or a second ACT code has been added that does not directly follow on from the first record

As payment for the month is determined by the employer on the last day of the month and the dates to and from must be the same then you should use the 10 of the month for both to ensure payments come from the corresponding ACT and avoid the error.

But surely if I close down the first ACT with the start at the new employer - then the 1st Employer would more than likely cause a d-lock as they'll close it down based on the actual leaving date?

You can always test it with FIS to make sure the funding is calculated as expected.

Hi All,

Just a query on this one - if we put date applies to as 10th (even though they left on 20th of prior month), wouldn't this mean that that the funding would come from first employer's DAS account for the month they left? And is this right if they weren't employed there on final day of the month?

Unless the first employer stops the record on DAS before month end with the actual leave date and then I don't think the provider would be funded at all for that month? Which I'm guessing is probably right, and then remaining funding will be spread between start date of second ACT and planned end date?

Thank you
